A recent FAA report revealed a key air traffic control facility overseeing the NYC region is only 54% staffed. While airlines are increasing the number of pilots on reserve and reducing flight schedules to minimize disruptions, there are steps you can take to ensure your upcoming summer trip goes smoothly.
Arrive Early and Pass by Security Bottlenecks

TSA Pre-Check can also save you time on arrival, with no requirement to remove your shoes, belt, laptop, or toiletries. Stay Informed with Airline Mobile Apps
Airline mobile apps are a great way to get direct chat support. You can also check your departing gate number, and get your boarding pass on airline apps. Delta’s app will show the wait time until boarding. The United app has a feature that directs you on the quickest path through the airport.
Locate your Checked Bags
Bluetooth trackers utilize a shared network of user cellphones to help locate your bag. If you have an Apple device, Air Tags integrate well with other Apple devices like the Apple watch. Samsung Galaxy Smart Tags are similar first party trackers on Samsung phones. Tile Trackers are a less expensive third party option, with an app for both Apple and Android devices.
Avoid Wait Time Charges Before Pick up
Currently for domestic flights, we provide you with 30 minutes of free airport wait time. For international flights, we allow 45 minutes of free airport wait time. To eliminate or mitigate any billable wait time charges, we suggest when booking your car, please instruct us to arrive at least 30 minutes after the estimated arrival time of your flight. We think this can be an effective strategy minimizing or eliminating wait time charges.
